God Bless You Dear Readers.
I will talk about Menstruation, one of the many physical signs indicating that a girl is becoming a woman.

About 3 years after a girl's breasts start developing, when she is between 8 and 13 years old, she experiences her first menstruation. But about 6 months before then, she has an increased amount of clear vaginal discharge which is normal. This occurs when the reproductive system of a girl have matured, and are functioning together.

The female child has 2 ovaries, 2 fallopian tubes, and also a womb (uterus). The ovaries which contain thousands of eggs or ova, sit on either side of the womb (uterus), in the pelvis, the lowest part of the abdomen. The womb (uterus) has powerful muscles which can expand to allow it accommodate a growing fetus, and also help to push baby out during labor.

At the age of puberty, the girl's reproductive organs have matured, the pituitary gland releases hormones, stimulating production of other hormones called estrogen and progesterone, by the ovaries. These hormones have some effects on the body of the girl such as growth, maturity, emotions, etc.

Once every month, an egg leaves one of the ovaries, travels down one of the fallopian tubes, to the womb (uterus). This process is referred to as "ovulation." But before ovulation, the estrogen hormone stimulates building up of the womb (uterus) lining with extra blood and tissue, so that the walls of the womb (uterus) become thick and cushioned, preparing the womb (uterus) for pregnancy. If a man's sperm cell fertilizes the egg, it travels to the womb (uterus), attaches to the cushiony wall of the womb (uterus), and slowly develops into a baby. However, if the egg is not fertilized, it breaks apart, hormone levels drop, and the thickened lining of the womb (uterus) is shed as menstruation.

Therefore, Menstruation simply defined, is the monthly bleeding experienced by a woman. In the process, the body sheds the lining of the womb (uterus), as the menstrual blood from the uterus flows through the small opening in the cervix, passing out through the vagina.

Periods or menstrual flows occur monthly except when a woman is pregnant, breastfeeding, or when she has attained menopause (can no longer release eggs from her ovaries).

Although some girls start menstruation from the age of 8, others start at 15. The Menstrual Cycle is calculated from the beginning of one period, to the beginning of the next period. Young girls have menstrual cycle that lasts 24 days, some 28, 30, and others even longer. However, after a girl's very first menstruation, menstrual cycles last 21 - 45 days, and after some years, it reduces to an adult length of 21 - 34 days. Also girls who are just begining to menstruate experience irregular periods, as the body is trying to adjust, but at most 2 years later, they have regular periods. After sometime, the girl can predict when her period will commense. I advise that girls keep track of their menstrual cycle with a calendar to determine when their period will commense, and stop. In future, it will help determine when they are pregnant. Some girls have periods that last for 2 to 3 days, and some 5 to 7 days.

Women, when you or your female children experience any of the following please go see your doctor:

1. When periods last more that a week.
2. Having severe pains before or during periods.
3. When blood soaks thoroughly more than 1 pad every 1 - 2 hours.
4. Missing your period for more than three months.
5. Bleeding in between periods.
6. Periods regular and irregular.
7. Any other irregularity.

When you menstruate, use sanitary pads, tampons, etc. Some women experience premenstrual syndrome (PMS) before and during their periods such as sadness, irritation, headaches, bloating, swollen and sore breasts, cravings for certain foods, etc. When you eat right, sleep soundly, exercise, these should take care of premenstrual syndrome, but if not go see your doctor.

Parents, it is your duty to counsel your little girls menstruating about the danger of sleeping with a man, to prevent pregnancy at a tender age, because they are not matured enough to handle pregnancy.

Women who experience menstrual pains, can drink the Tiens Antilipemic Tea for 1 week before, and during their period. This prevents menstrual pains. Please follow this link and see use of Tiens Aura-Energy Stone, for painless menstruation.
